Research Policies
Priorities - Research on Professional Development
A priority for AALPD is to create a Web-based
resource of research in professional development. The Web
resource, in coordination with AALPD policies and the priorities
for Advocacy and PD Standards, will support work in three
areas:
-
Providing support for the implementation
of AALPD policies at national, state and local levels
-
Promoting growth in professional development
practice through the dissemination of new models, approaches,
and strategies
-
Encouraging new research on critical
issues related to professional development in the field
of adult education and literacy
Current objectives for the Research Priority
are to:
- Establish a working group to develop the
Web resource
- Update AALPD members on current research
in PD
- Identify graduate research-focused programs
that focus on ABE, Adult ESOL, ASE, etc.
Ways You Can Become Involved
AALPD is in the process of developing the
working group to take the lead in developing this Web resource.
Group members can participate in tasks such as
-
Writing summaries of published
research
-
Updating database information
-
Scanning resources for
recent research on PD in adult education and literacy
-
Identifying connections
between research and AALPD priorities
-
Summarizing needs for future
research
These are just a sample of the tasks involved. Other options
will become apparent as the working group progresses.
