Priorities

In 2006, the Association of Adult Literacy Professional Developers identified three key priorities for the organization upon which to focus its efforts, and to build a multi-year strategic plan to accomplish those priorities. The AALPD membership voted on options and the top three options with the most votes became the AALPD Priorities.

Priority #1: Develop quality standards for professional development

Priority #2: Develop a web-based resource of research in professional development
Chair: Jane Greiner

Priority #3: Advocate for funding for professional development
Chair: Jackie Taylor

Three working groups have been established to address each of these three priority areas. Each group has developed objectives, action steps, and specific ways members can become involved to achieve its goal. However, since AALPD is an entirely volunteer organization, we need help from AALPD members interested in leadership. If you are an AALPD member and you have an interest in helping to move any of these priorities forward, contact the chair over the group in which you would like to become involved.
